What personal data do we process?

In order to use our services and website, you leave certain data with us. This could be personal data, but it could also be other data such as click behaviour and visitor data (cookies). For the collection and use of these cookies, please refer to our cookie statement.

We speak of personal data when it comes to data that provides information about you and by which you are directly or indirectly identifiable to us. Processing of this personal data means: the protection, storage, updating, use, linking, retrieval, organisation, consultation, collection or modification of your personal data.

Which of your data we process depends on the services you use. For example, if you only visit our website without contacting us, no personal data will be collected from you. If you choose to contact us, or enter into an agreement, the personal data you send us will be processed by us in order to meet your wishes and our goals. So you always choose whether and which personal data you provide us with. In addition, you can always view, change or remove your personal data. How you can do that is explained below.

The reason why we collect and use personal data from you depends on the services you use. Below is a summary of our purposes. If you subsequently disagree with the reason why we are processing your personal data, you have the right to access, change or delete your personal data or to withdraw your consent to the processing of your personal data.

Our purposes for processing personal data are:

  • Answering or dealing with contact or registration forms or e-mails.
  • Calling back in response to an (unsuccessful) contact.
  • Executing an agreement with regard to our services.
  • Handling the order procedure and/or payment of our services.
  • Delivering goods and/or services following an agreement.
  • Improving our services and products and/or informing about changes.
  • Handling complaints.
  • Analyzing behaviour on our website, in order to improve the website (see also our cookie statement).
  • Fulfilling legal obligations (such as our tax return).

How long do we process your personal data?

The duration of the processing of your personal data depends on the services you use. Autohandel Ter Hoeven will not keep your personal data longer than necessary to realize the goals for which your data are collected. If legal prescriptions apply to the storage, the personal details will not be stored longer than legally required.

Examples of retention periods for data based on services used are:

  • Personal data sent in a contact or registration form or via an e-mail will be stored until it has been answered and dealt with, depending on its nature and content.

  • The data collected by means of Google Analytics after visiting our website will be kept for 1 year.

  • The personal data processed for an agreement relating to our services will be kept in our customer file for a longer period of time. For example, according to German law, we are legally obliged to keep the basic data in our records for 10 years.

From whom do we not collect personal data?

We have no intention of collecting data about website visitors who are under 16 years of age, unless they have permission from their parents or guardian. However, we cannot verify whether a visitor is over 16 years of age. We therefore recommend that parents be involved in the online activities of their children in order to prevent data being collected on children without parental permission. If you are convinced that we have collected personal data on a minor without such consent, please contact us at info@terhoevenauto.de. We will then delete this information.

What do we do to ensure that your data is processed securely?

Personal details are personal and must remain personal. Autohandel Ter Hoeven takes the protection of your personal data very seriously and takes appropriate measures to prevent abuse, loss, unauthorized access, unwanted disclosure and unauthorized changes. We ensure that only the necessary people have access to your data, that the data is sent via a secure connection and stored in a secure database. We also ensure that our security measures are checked regularly.

Do we share your details with other companies?

Autohandel Ter Hoeven will NOT sell your personal data to third parties. Only if this is necessary for the implementation of our agreement with you or to meet a statutory obligation, your personal information will be shared with third parties. With companies who process your data on our behalf, we have a processor’s agreement, to ensure that they are just as safe and secure with your data as we are. Autohandel Ter Hoeven remains responsible for these processes.

What if you do not give us permission to process your personal data?

If you do not give us permission to collect and use your personal data, you will only be able to use our services to a limited extent, if at all. For many of our services, we need at least your e-mail address or telephone number, for example, to be able to contact you. Without this personal data, you cannot make effective use of our services.

How can you access, modify or delete your personal data??

You have the right to inspect, change or remove your personal data. You also have the right to withdraw your permission for the data processing or to object to the processing of your personal details by Autohandel Ter Hoeven. Finally, you have the right to data portability, which means that you can request to send your personal data in a computer file to you or an organization you specify.

You can send a request to inspect, correct, delete or transfer your personal data to info@terhoevenauto.de. You can also withdraw your permission for the data processing or object to the processing of your personal data by sending an e-mail to info@terhoevenauto.de.

To make sure that the request is made by you, we ask you to send a copy of your proof of identity. In this copy, please make a black mark for your passport photo, MRZ (‚machine readable zone‘, the strip with numbers at the bottom of the passport), passport number and CSN (Citizen Service Number). This is to protect your privacy.

We will respond to your request as quickly as possible, but no later than four working weeks.

How do you submit a complaint to the Authority Personal Data?

We are happy to help you if you have any complaints about the processing of your personal data. If, despite this, you are not satisfied, you have the right to submit a complaint to the Personal Data Authority. 

Changes to this privacy statement?

We can change this privacy statement from time to time. These changes will be published on our website. We therefore recommend you to check this privacy declaration regularly, so that you are aware of these changes.
